Product Finishing
At Jamar Industries we have relationships with reliable sources for all of your product finishing needs. Including but not limited to plating, anodizing, heat treating, grinding and honing.
Product Finishing consists of many different possibilities. Some of these are Heat Treating, Grinding: Centerless , Plating and Anodizing.
Heat treatment involves the use of heating or chilling, normally to extreme temperatures, to achieve a desired result such as hardening or softening of a material. Heat treatment techniques include annealing, case hardening, precipitation strengthening, tempering and quenching.
Centerless grinding is a method of material removal through grinding, similar to centered grinding except for the absence of the spindle. It has high through-put, i.e. large number of parts can be manufactured in a short time. The main benefit of centerless grinding is the ability to maintain precision tolerances. Tolerances of tenths may be held, while achieving a fairly high rate of production. An example of a centerless ground application is the outer diameter of the bearing races.
Plating describes surface-covering where a metal is deposited on a conductive surface. Plating has been done for hundreds of years, but it is also critical for modern technology. Plating is used to decorate objects, for corrosion inhibition, to improve solderability, to harden, to improve wearability, to reduce friction, to improve paint adhesion, to alter conductivity, for radiation shielding, and for other purposes. Jewelry typically uses plating to give a silver or gold finish.
Aluminum Alloys are anodized to increase corrosion resistance, to increase surface hardness, and to allow dyeing (coloring), improved lubrication, or improved adhesion.
These are some examples of our capabilities at Jamar Industries. There may be other processes not listed. If you have a part to be made, and it requires another process, please call to discuss our ability to help.
